Scholars’ bowl team ends tournament with impressive record

A perfect 7-0 record in pool play put Trego’s scholars’ bowl in a good position to win the tournament at Osborne on November 28.

After winning the semi-final round against St. John, 70-50, Trego matched up against TMP in the championship round. Unfortunately, the Monarchs edged out the Golden Eagles by one question and capturing the title, 40-50.

Fourteen schools competed in the event. Before the semi-final and championship rounds, Trego defeated Plainville, 50-30; Smith Center, 60-40; Stockton, 40-30; Russell 60-50; Palco, 25-10; Tipton, 80-0; and Phillipsburg, 70-30, in pool play.

Six scholars’ bowl members competed in the tournament: Deven Schoenthaler, Joe Wolf, Nicole H., Tyler Lowry, Kylie Heronemus and Kristen Hanks.

Schoenthaler led the team with 32 correct answers, while Wolf answered 12 correctly.

Trego’s scholars’ bowl team will continue the season at Hill City on December 5.
