Scholars take 3rd at Russell

Trego’s scholars’ bowl team traveled to Russell to compete among 14 teams on December 12.
Trego went 6-0 in pool play. They defeated Hoisington, 60-0; Ellsworth, 120-10; Sacred Heart, 80-0; Victoria, 70-50; Stockton, 50-30; and St. Johns, 50-15.
Smith Center broke the Golden Eagles’ win streak, 40-60, in the semi-final round, which put them in position for a third-place finish against St. Johns. Trego won the round, 60-40.
Overall, the Golden Eagles’ record for the season moves to 18-4. Plainville will host the next event, the MCL tournament, on January 9.
