medals from Phillipsburg on January 24.

In round-one pool play, Trego matched up against their toughest rival, TMP, whose members have recently won gold in their own last four league events. TMP, scoring 70-80, provided a tight contest and gave the Golden Eagles their first loss of the evening. Trego, victorious in the next three rounds, held all opponents to no more than 20 points. Then round five turned out to be nail biter win for Trego, who went 70-60 against Russell. The last victory was especially sweet for the Golden Eagles, who scored a triple-digit 100 points to Norton’s 40 points.

With a 5-1 record, Trego advanced to the semi-finals where they easily outscored Phillipsburg, 85-20. The win sent the Eagles to a match up event against TMP again. Trego gave the Monarchs a run, however, before the Eagles lost, 35-40, in another close contest.

After pool play, Trego’s junior varsity team, 3-2, and varsity team, 2-3, did not advance to finals.

Currently, the varsity scholars’ bowl team holds a 36-15 record and is preparing for Norton’s tournament on January 30.
