Filling different roles, the Lady Golden Eagles stepped up to overcome a variety of obstacles and had a “gutsy win” against the Lady Bulldogs at Osborne on February 6.

Adjusting to a new starting lineup, the Lady Eagles went 0-11 early in the first quarter until they found their “tempo.” Trego then pressured the Lady Bulldogs and woke up offensively. As a result of the fight, the Lady Eagles finished the first quarter, 11-13. However, after generously sending Osborne to the foul line, Trego got into foul trouble and finished the first half down, 21-28.

After teetering back and forth, Trego suffered a five point deficit with two minutes left to play. Due to a solid full-court press, the Lady Golden Eagles managed significant steals and made easy buckets to gain the lead and ensure another close win. The Lady Eagles beat Osborne, 49-44.

Tying her career high, Alli Carr grabbed of 12 of the team’s 30 rebounds. Also, Hannah and Haley Dietz scored 25 and 12 points, respectively. In addition, stepping up to fill the role of point guard, Kaylee Smith tallied eight points.

The 10-6 Lady Eagles will take on the 1-10 Stockton Tigers at home on Friday, February 10.
