The varsity wrestling team traveled to Hill City on January 6 for a five-team competition.

The tournament didn’t result in individual placings. “The event mixed and matched the weight classes to give kids more matches,” said Coach Dan Wynn.

Tyler Lowry led the team with a 2-0 performance, followed by Haden Finley with a 2-1 finish.

Other athletes turned in the following records: Tucker Ramage, 1-2; Logan Zahn, 1-2; Brandon Schoenthaler, 1-1; Dustin Zahn, 1-0; Brendan Karnes, 0-2; and Robert Clark, 0-3.

Following the Friday tournament, the JV wrestlers participated in a 13-school competition at Trego on January 7.

Schoenthaler won his weight class with a 3-0 record, followed by Finley with a 3-1 record, which earned him a 3rd place finish. Both receiving 4th place, Zahn and Karnes each finished with a record of 1-2.

Other JV athletes finished the tournament with the following records: Ramage, 0-2; Lowry, 0-2; and Clark, 0-2.

The wrestling team will travel to Russell on January 14.
