Lil' Eagles benefit from mentor program
Pee Wee Track event held on April 28
A circus-like atmosphere filled Goldsmith Field as approximately 130 children competed in the annual Pee Wee Track Meet, sponsored by T-Club and the Trego Recreation Commission on April 28.
With parents cheering on their little ones, high school students ran the track meet as the children, pre-school through 6th grades, competed in the usual track and field events. The youngsters, competing in a maximum of three events, were awarded ribbons for first through third places and for participation.
The event emphasizes physical fitness and introduces the children to track and field.
Myron Flax, Carl Behrens, Dawn Kenyon and Shelby Thornton will host a barbeque on May 14 for high school students who participated in the event.
Salina destination for organizational outing
Salina fun spots provided a day of entertainment for T-Club and KAY members on May 10.
In order to qualify for the trip, T-Club members had to be seniors, and Kay member qualified by points.
The day began at Jumpin’ Joes, where students played laser tag and putt-putt golf, raced go-carts, and played arcade games. Dinner followed at CiCi’s Pizza. The trip ended with an opportunity for students to shop at the Salina Mall.
Students who participated included Michele Ummel, Casey Flax, Annabelle Oss, Kirsten Locke, Cameron Locke, Morgan Dietz, Olivia Fabrizius, Lauren Billinger, Brooke Scheib, Spencer Hemmert, Nolan Smith, Zach Bentham, Matt Dietz, Kelsey Heronemus, Dylan Sherfick, Chad Jamison, and Eric Cunningham.
The group sponsors for the trip were Myron Flax Karen Flax, and Carl Mohler.
